Director of Emergency Management Message

January 11, 2021

Well certainly the last twelve days for our Region has gone the exact opposite way we were all hoping for. As of January 11th, we currently sit at 484 total cases, with 129 being active, and 353 recovering. This has been an increase of +79 cases for our Region since my last update on December 30th. Sadly, another death has been reported for our region by AHS. Our sincerest condolences to the family. I also continue to hope for full and speedy recoveries of all those infected.

I want to remind everyone that we are not privy to specifics of infections nor locations, besides what’s published by Alberta Health Services.

Up to date information regarding COVID-19 for the Region of St. Paul and the Province can be found at:

The spread of the virus is still very high in the Province, and as evidenced by the most recent numbers, in our Region as well. I certainly want to thank all those residents of the Summer Village of Horseshoe Bay, the County of St. Paul and both the Towns of Elk Point and St. Paul. I know we all have sacrificed so much, but our work is not over. Our health care system, and the staff who work in it are under pressure. They need our help. I continue to ask that we all limit in-person interactions as much as possible.

We are now only seeing the impact of the recent holidays. To be blunt, I expect it to get worse. High levels of community transmission impacts us all. As the Premier announced last week, current health restrictions will remain in place to at least January 21st, and will be reviewed then.

The progress we make in the coming days and weeks will certainly have an impact as to how the coming months will look.
