Director of Emergency Management Message

I would like to first announce that, the Office of Emergency Management for the Region of St. Paul has officially come back under Fire Services authority. With supervision from the Region’s CAO’s and input from the Regional Emergency Management Agency (REMA), our purpose is to provide guidance on emergency operations, and the coordination of resources necessary to provide for the effective management of emergencies in the County of St. Paul, Town of St. Paul, Town of Elk Point and Summer Village of Horseshoe Bay.

Secondly, I am pleased to report that I have appointed Deputy Fire Chief Henry Thomson as the Regional Deputy Director of Emergency Management. Deputy Thomson brings with him nearly twenty-five years of fire service experience, and along with his vast knowledge of the area makes him a valuable resource to our Incident Management Team.

A great foundation of emergency management practices and principles have already been established for our Region over the past few years. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our response capabilities through the development and maintenance of our Regional Emergency Management Plan (REMP). The plan is to address incidents that may cause damage of sufficient severity and magnitude to warrant activation of all or part of our Regional Emergency Management Plan.

Finally, as we all continue to take aggressive measures to slow the spread of COVID-19, we are reminded that we are not out of the woods yet. Simple steps save lives and can slow the spread. Wash your hands, physically distance, and if you are even slightly sick, stay home and get tested.
